It seems like Blackberry has had a change of heart with regards to selling off the struggling company previously known as RIM. Instead, the struggling smartphone maker intends to raise $1bn (£627m) in fresh financing. Chief executive Thorsten Heins will step down and former Sybase chief executive John Chen will serve as interim chief executive.

Could this have anything to do with the astronomical adoption of their cross platform BBM Messenger application which just recently crossed the 20 million download mark?
