Award winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has expressed her displeasure at the Nigerian Video Films and Censors Board continous delay of the release of the movie Half Of A Yellow Sun an adaptation of her award winning novel.
The author made this known in an article published on the New Yorker Magazine.
“I find this absurd – security operatives, uniformed and alert, gathered in a room watching a romantic film – but the censors’ action is more disappointing than surprising, because it is part of a larger Nigerian political culture that is steeped in denial, in looking away.”
The cinema release of ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ in Nigeria remains postponed due to the fact that the National Film and Video Censors Board is yet to certify the movie on the grounds of ability to incite violence. The release date will be announced once the movie is certified by the Board.
