The success and turn out of the LoudNProudLive 2nd Anniversary was a testament to the power of real live music. The lobby of the Intercontinental Hotel bustled with activity as film crews from various popular channels including Sound City and MTV Base & MNET set up their equipment in anticipation for the night's event. Organised
by NMO Management & PR, LoudNProudLive has officially become a live music institution and a gem in the Lagos music scene. LoudNProud MD NGOZI OMAMBALA has taken a small and simple idea and turned it into a haven for music lovers to enjoy and a place for musicians to showcase their raw talent. The true beauty of the show is its intimate and cosy nature. The audience are so close to the performers, they could reach out and touch them and it's that intimate nature which creates the special atmosphere that LoudNProudLive regulars know and love.
The LoudNProudLive 2nd anniversary special 'Cool as Ice Prince' Edition proved to be one of the most successful nights yet. Before the show was even due to start 'SOUL' @ INTERCONTINENTAL had filled up quite nicely just in time for the Golden Breakthrough Auditions (GBT).
Bola 'The Genie' Sonola took our auditionees through their paces and whilst the level of talent was high, judges, ANTONIA SUARES and ONAH NWACHUKWU from Complete Fashion, decided that the four piece 'IN- AGE' were the outright winners. As a prize, the boys will get a makeover courtesy of top fashion magazine Complete Fashion. A great prize for anybody looking to start out in the industry.
DAMI (The Beat 99.9FM) and EHIZ (MTV Base) swiftly took over and got us into the swing of the main show with GBT Winner (NOV) STEREO KILLER followed by a cameo performance by Yun'Greyc.
First up kicking off the main segment was 'Raving' singer ENDIA of Grip Boiz fame. He stormed the stage with an energetic performance which had everyone up on their feet. Not letting the momentum stop, YUNG L, Mr Marley on Deck himself, took to the stage and showed us why he is one of the top in the scene right now. His catchy song 'SOS' had the whole crowed singing along including Pirates of the Caribbean actor, HAKEEM KAE KAZIM who was spotted dancing throughout the whole night. After a quick break, ChocBoiNation 1st Lady 'ENZO' of 'International Girl' fame gave us a very energetic performance and showed off her stunning vocal range.
By the end of the first half of the show, we were fully geared for our long anticipated headline, the man himself, ICE PRINCE. Ice and his band were decked out in white traditional gear and being the true showman he is, he started by bantering with the crowd. He cheekily revealed that EVA ALORDIAH, popular femcee, was his first ever girlfriend when he first came to Lagos! Well, you heard it here first! ICE PRINCE soon launched into live versions of his hit singles 'Superstar' and 'Gimme Dat'.
The band and the backing singers transformed his sound and gave us a new stripped down and raw version of Mr. Zamani. We're used to seeing Ice Prince storm across big stages and command crowds of thousand so to watch him charm and entertain such an exclusive lounge full of people and still keep that energy and momentum, we know why he is undoubtedly one of the best performers Nigeria has to offer. Ice Prince closed the show with a beautiful rendition of Aboki which had everyone's hands in the air and singing along merrily.
Then the LoudNProudLive anniversary cake was brought out as was Ngozi Omambala to cut it. Ice Prince told the crowd about how hard she had worked over the years to make her dream a reality and it was his honour to be celebrating her 2nd anniversary. A lady of few words, Ngozi took the mic and thanked everyone for being a part of her special day. It's a wonderful thing to see somebody's hard work rewarded and that was what made this anniversary edition so special. Industry people coming together to celebrate and support each other's successes.
Congratulations LoudNProud and here is to many more years to come!
