Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong'o has suddenly become not just Hollywood's sweetheart, but also a global and social media heartthrob. The 12 Years A Slave actress is gradually moving towards the "untouchable" zone like the Beyonce's of the World.
Relatively unknown only a year before, the actress who now seem to be the new definition of African beauty, has risen through the rank and files of who is who in Hollywood. She has been able to create a sizzling romance with the media, fashion egg heads and her very own fans around the world. Lupita seem to be getting everything that makes a star right at the moment.
Born in Mexico to Kenyan Parents in 1983, the daughter of a Kenyan Senator proceeded to read film studies at Hampshire College, Massachusetts and, after working as a production assistant on several films, graduated from Yale School of Drama.
Though Lupita Nyong'o was raised in Kenya, she returned to Mexico to learn Spanish as a teenager.
Lupita's stage credits include playing "Perdita" in "The Winter's Tale", (Yale Repertory Theater), "Sonya" in "Uncle Vanya", "Katherine" in "The Taming of the Shrew", as well as being in the original production of Michael Mitnick's "Elijah".
She became relatively popular after featuring in the MTV Base award winning Tv series Shuga in 2009.
Lupita Nyong'o rose to unprecedented stardom last year after playing Patsey in Steve Mcqueens 12 Years A Slave. She got a Golden Globe nomination for her role and rave reviews for her powerful interpretation of the role.
Lupita didn't stop at that, she went on to win the Best supporting actress at the Oscars held at the dolby theatre on Sunday the 2nd of March 2014.
In one year, Lupita has grown from a promising actress, to a power player in Hollywood.
