Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong'o wins the award for Best Supporting Actress on yesterday at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in California, USA.

The 12 Years a Slave actress who was nominated for the Oscars picked the for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role in the movie. 

This award puts her in a vantage position for the Oscars. The actress also got a Golden Globe nomination earlier this this month alongside British-Nigerian actor Chiwetel Ejiofor who also featured in 12 Years a slave.
