Today the World stood still at the ongoing Nelson Mandela memorial service. The event which had over 91 heads of states in attendance saw American President Barrack Obama giving a powerful speech that was welcomed with thunderous ovation.

It was a mixed celebration of pain and joy at the remembrance of the man who spent 27 years in prison in his struggle to liberate his country from apartheid.

Mandela became the first black President of South Africa in 1994 after his release from prison and led South Africa to a multi racial democracy. Mandela died last week thursday at age 95.
